= (1 + 1 + 8 - 5 + 27 - 14 + 2)/10
go from left to right adding/subtracting (1+1+8= 10)

= (10 - 5 + 27 - 14 + 2)/10
next is 10-5= 5

= (5 + 27 - 14 + 2)/10
next is 5+27= 32

= (32 - 14 + 2)/10
next is 32-14= 18

= (18 + 2)/10
add in parentheses

= 20/10

= 2
