What you have to do here is put that point-slope form of the line into the slope-intercept form, which simply means to solve it for y. We first distribute the 1/2 into the parenthesis to get [tex] y-8=\frac{1}{2}x-2 [/tex]. Now we will add 8 to both sides and get [tex] y=\frac{1}{2}x+6 [/tex]. Of course, in function notation that is [tex] f(x)=\frac{1}{2}x+6 [/tex], which is choice B.
