the abolition movement gain more strength in the North because the Northerners were sympathetic to anti-slavery sentiment. The North was also not dependent on slave labor given that it was industrialized. Therefore, in addition to morality of slavery, the Northern states began to abolish slavery because it threatened the jobs of whites
