Planting seeds to shallow or too deep will prevent their growth as the seeds will get very little nutrients. If the seeds are planted to shallow the roots will not be able to absorb all the nutrients in the soil. Or when it rains due to the shallowness it will get too much water and die. If planted too deep part of the seeds will not receive water to grow and will die.
