3x + 2y = -4      (I)

4x - y = 13        (II)

Multiplying both sides of (ii) by 2:

8x - 2y = 26     (iii)

Adding (i) to (iii):

3x + 2y + 8x - 2y = -4 + 26

11x = 22

x = 11

To find out the value of y:

4x - y = 13

y = 4x -13

y = 4.(11) - 13

y = 44 - 13

y = 31

Response: x=11 and y=31 .
