How did the number of African Americans in manufacturing change during World War II in Texas

The answer is: doubled

During world war II, The government drafted a large portion of manufacture workers to the military,  and not many African Americans were accepted into the military.

Because of this, there was a sudden need to fill the position left by the manufacture workers. A lot of African Americans took this opportunity to joined the workforce. The number of the workers doubled within one year after world war ii started.
