The pollution increases on higher tropic level because there is an accumulation of the pollutants at each tropic level.

This accumulation keeps on increasing at each tropic level starting prom the producers and ending on the tertiary consumers.

The concentration of the pollutant increases as it enters the food chain and its concentration keeps on increasing as we move up in the tropic level.
