The back channel deal that the United States of America and the USSR were trying to work out, was a peaceful solution of the Cuban Missile Crisis. The back channel negotiation did work and the USSR secretly agreed to remove all its offensive weapons back from Cuba and the Americans agreed never to invade Cuba.
