Set the two equations equal to each other by multiplying equation 2 by -2;

-2 * (-3x + 2y = -12)

-6x - 4y = 24

-6x - 4y = 2x - 4y

Then add to each side

-8x = 0

x = 0

Plug x back into one of the original two equations;

2 * 0 - 4y = 24

-4y = 24

y = -6
