How do you know when ratios are equivalent and when they are not equivalent

Ratios are equivalent when that can be reduced or multiplied to be the same number.
Ex) 1:4 is the same as 2:8 or 4:16
10:20 is the same as 8:16 or 1:2

They are not equivalent if you can’t do this
