You need to isolate/get m by itself in the equation:

3(m + 7) = 6(m + 2)      Distribute 3 into (m + 7), and distribute 6 into (m + 2)

(3)m + (3)7 = (6)m + (6)2

3m + 21 = 6m + 12       Subtract 3m on both sides

21 = 3m + 12        Subtract 12 on both sides

9 = 3m       Divide 3 on both sides

3 = m

PROOF

3(m + 7) = 6(m + 2)

3(3 + 7) = 6(3 + 2)

3(10) = 6(5)

30 = 30
