Aluminum nitrate is highly soluble in water thus it is completely dissolved in water. When aluminum nitrate nitrate is dissolved in water, the compound dissociates into ions forming aluminum ions and nitrate ions.

Al(NO3)3(s) = Al+3(aq) + 3NO3-(aq)
