The outermost electrons would reach its full shell. It would also become more negative in charge.

Since there are 7 electrons, gaining energy(by electrons) would complete the outer layer with 8 valence electrons. So the charge would be more negative, and also reaching a full shell. It would also become stable and not want more electrons.
