By taking public transport, more people are able to get to where they are going together. For example, instead of 30 cars, all you need is 1 bus. This reduces greenhouse gas emissions because each person would not have to drive their own car or truck to get there. Cars, SUVs, and light duty trucks that are fueled by gasoline, diesel, and E85 emit both greenhouse gases and smog-forming pollutants from their tailpipes.
