If Carter bikes 1/4 mile in 5/6 minutes, he bikes 1/4 mile in 50 seconds. (5/6 of a minute is equal to 50 seconds)

At this rate, if Carter bikes 1/4 mile in 50 seconds, he will be able to bike 2/4 of a mile in 100 seconds, 3/4 of a mile in 150 seconds, and a whole mile (4/4) in 200 seconds.

Converting 200 seconds to minutes, we have that it takes Carter 3 1/3 minutes to bike 1 mile.
