Distribute 0.6 throughout the set of parenthesis

0.6 x Y = 0.6y

0.6 x 3 = 1.8

Now the equation looks like this:

0.6y + 1.8 = 4.8

Perform the opposite operation on the left side of the equation by subtracting 1.8 on both sides of the equation

0.6y = 3

Perform the opposite operation on both sides of the equation by dividing by 0.6

y=5
