What is the solution to the equation 3(x - 1) – 2(2x + 1) = 8(x - 1)?

1. distribute and get:
3x - 3 - 4x - 2 = 8x - 8

2. simplify the first side of the equation
- x - 5 = 8x - 8

3.move all the x’s to one side
-5 = 9x - 8

4. completely isolate the 9x

3 = 9x

5. solve
x = 1/3
