A painting is a rectangle so.....
Area= L x W
Area= 4 1/3 x 1 1/5
Change both into an improper fraction
(Multiply denominator by whole number and add numerator)
4 x 3 + 1= 13, so 4 1/3 is 13/3
1 x 5 + 1= 6, so 1 1/5 is 6/5
- multiply across
13 x 6= 78
5 x 3= 15
New fraction
78/15
Now simplify
5 1/5
