The children picked 14 pumpkins. 4/6 is another way to say 2/3. So the children picked 14 pumpkins because 2/3 of 21 is 14.

First, simplify [tex] \frac{6}{4} into \frac{3}{2} [/tex]

Second, [tex]21 - \frac{3}{2} [/tex]

= 19.5
