In representing consecutive numbers, we may add one to the numbers if we wish to move right on the number line, while subtracting one from the numbers will allow us to move left.

Because b is the smallest of the four numbers, we will be moving right on the number line. Thus,

first number: b
second number: b + 1
third number: b + 2
fourth number: b + 3
