x - number we are looking for.

0.2% * x = 12

2/1000 * x = 12, we multiply both sides by 1000
2 *x = 12000, we divide both sides by 2
x = 6000

0.2/100x=12

Simplify both sides of the equation.

0.002x=12

Divide both sides by 0.002.

0.002x / 0.002 = 12 / 0.002

x=6000
