why is 3(5x) not equivalent to (3×5)(3×x)

 Ok, really simple, honestly. Because 3(5x) = 15x. (3*5)(3*x) = 3*5 = 15*3 = 45x. Therefore, 15x and 45x do not correspond to each other at all, meaning that 3(5x) is not equivalent to (3*5)(3*x)!!!
