First you have to solve for side TU, which is [tex] \sqrt{ 6^{2} - 3^{2} } [/tex]. That equals 3[tex] \sqrt{3} [/tex].

Then you use that to solve for y. 

[tex]y= \sqrt{(3 \sqrt{3} )^{2} + 9^{2} } [/tex]

So y equals [tex]6 \sqrt{3} [/tex]
