2) depending on the cat's mass, the force needs to accelerate (N2L: Law of Force and Acceleration);

3) when running, the cat applies a backward force onto the ground, and the ground applies the same amount of force (forward) back to the cat (N3L: for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction).
