They wanted to seek rights for LGBT people
The group was primarily consisting of Lesbians and wanted to help other women who were like them to come out and become free in their society. They were formed as an alternative to gay bars because at the time gay bars would often get attacked by the police and people would be arrested for things like public indecency or similar things.
